Anne of the Island

By L.M. Montgomery

This book mainly concentrates on Anne's four years at Redmond College. She is going to leave her home of Green Gables to move to Kingsport to get a BA. At Redmond she makes new friends and meets new boys.

The story now moves from an innocent young girl's dreams to a young woman's first faltering steps into womanhood. It is quite an enjoyable story with many new characters entering the scene. However, I do feel that the story has somehow lost a little of its original enthusiasm but that might just be Anne growing up. She cannot allow herself to be the carefree child she once was but now has to make choices for herself that will affect the rest of her life - such as whom she should marry...
